Alcona Library Sets July Schedules | News, Sports, Jobs




HARRISVILLE — The Alcona County Library has announced its July schedules. Call 989-724-6796 for more information on any of these programs.

This Friday is Popcorn Friday. Come to the Alcona County Library in Harrisville and enjoy a free bag of movie-style buttery popcorn, while supplies last. Don’t forget to watch a movie while you’re there.

On Fridays, July 1, 8, 15, and 22, a children’s story and craft hour will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library.

On Monday, July 4, the Alcona County Library and all of its branches will be closed for Independence Day.

On Tuesdays, July 5 and 19, Knitting Klub & Crochet will meet from 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. All ages and levels are welcome.

On Thursdays, July 7, 14, 21, and 28, the Everyone Community Walking Club meets at 9 a.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library.

On Thursday, July 7, the Alcona County Library in Harrisville will be “under the sea” with a real live siren! The time is to be determined. This free program is supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and Art in the Loft.

On Saturday, July 9, get up close to birds of prey with live animal presentations by Hawk Hill Raptors at 1 p.m. at the Curtis Township Library in Glennie. Bring a chair. Call 989-735-2601 for details on this free program supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and Art in the Loft.

On Mondays, July 11, 18, and 25, it’s time for Teen Movie and Munchies at 2 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library, for ages 13 and up. Enjoy an ocean-themed movie and a fun snack. This free program is supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and Art in the Loft.

On Monday July 11, teenagers and adults are invited to Craftomania! 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Harrisville Branch of the Alcona County Library. July’s project is Introduction to Kombucha. On Tuesday, July 12, tweens ages 8-12 are invited to the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library at 2:00 p.m. for a fun octopus yarn craft. This free program is supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and Art in the Loft.

On Wednesday, July 13, the Friends of the Alcona County Library will meet at 11 a.m. at the Harrisville branch.

On Thursdays, July 14 and 28, Family Movie Matinee will be held at 2 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. Enjoy a new DVD and cinema-style popcorn. This free program is supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and Art in the Loft.

On Tuesday, July 19, the Alcona Book Club will meet from noon to 1 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. July’s selection is “The Reading List” by Sara Nisha Adams.

On Wednesday, July 20, meet at the Harrisville Branch of the Alcona County Library at 1 p.m. for a hands-on animal experiment presented by ARK Animal Encounters. A second performance will take place at the Lincoln branch at 3 p.m. This free program is supported by the Michigan Council for Arts and Culture and Art in the Loft.

On Thursday, July 21, teens and adults are invited for Collage with Ellen LaCross from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. Please call 989-724-6796 to register for this free program supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and Art in the Loft.

On Wednesday, July 27, the Alcona County Library Board will meet at 4 p.m. at the Harrisville branch.

On Friday, July 29, story and craft time for children will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. Join the library for frog crafts, frog stories and frog treats.
